Here are the articles I've written regarding my involvement in the theatre.

Blogging at the Fine Arts Center

Yet again, heh, I've been cast and am acting in a show. This time it's a musical version of A Christmas Carol (no, not Scrooge!) and it's at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) here in town. Apart from taking on a couple of minor roles and being part of the Ensemble, I'm the Ghost of Christmas Present. Read more...

Hamlet

Here's the reason I've not updated this blog in a while. Although I wasn't interviewed for this podcast (I ran away), there are a couple of sightings of Yours Truly with a beard, hat, and dyed hair. Be warned. Read more...

Pirates of Penzance is Best Musical

Back in May/June 2006, I appeared as a pirate in Pirates of Penzance for the Rep at the Fine Arts Center. It was a fun show to do, although I didn't have that big a part (as a role, it was more visual than vocal). Anyway, John Moore, the theater critic for The Denver Post, really liked it, so much so that we won Best Musical in the Denver Post Ovation Awards for 2006, beating out some extremely stiff competition. Chris Sheley, our set designer, also won Best Set Design. Congratulations to everyone in the cast and crew, and of course to Sandy Bray, our director and the FAC's Artistic Director at the time.

The Dulwich Players, & being web-visible

At long last, I've updated my list of acting stints with the roles I performed when I was a member of the Dulwich Players in the late 80s and early 90s. In doing so, I had some thoughts about making yourself known via the web. Read more...

My First Play

I was ferreting around in the basement this morning looking for something completely different, when I came across the programme and a photo of the cast of the very first play I was in. Oh, man! This one takes me back. Waaaay back. It was just before my seventeenth birthday, I was in the Lower Sixth at Ernest Bailey Grammar School in Matlock (that's in Derbyshire, England for my non-UK readers, and for my American readers it's pronounced "darby-shih"), and I had a part in The Diary of Anne Frank. So, be warned: it's more of a personal post this time, and likely to only be of interest to my fellow schoolmates who were in it. Read more...

Cabaret is awarded Best Musical

Wow, this is bloody beautiful. Back in February, with three performances every weekend, the Rep at the Fine Arts Center produced Cabaret, the musical. I directed it, and it was my first time at directing a musical. Today the Gazette (the local paper) published its "Best Of" for the period June 2004 to May 2005 and Cabaret was awarded Best Musical. Yay! Read more...

Life is a Cabaret, old chum

For the past couple of months, I've had a side project that's been occupying my time in the evenings and at weekends. It's one of those projects that is completely orthogonal to my work life: nothing to do with programming. Regular readers will known what it is -- I've mentioned it a couple of times -- but it's time to come clean. Read more...

Catching up at the end of the year

It's the thing to do at the end of a year: review what you've accomplished and what you haven't; what was good and what was hideously awful; what you should have done and what you shouldn't have touched with a 10-foot barge pole. Read more...

On Acting

I just realized that a page I'd set up on this web site hadn't any links to it. Doh! It's a long list of the plays in which I've played a character, or which I've directed. Read more...

How the Other Half Loves

It may seem sometimes that I've fallen off the face of the earth. Some days I have a new blog post, sometimes many days go by before a new one appears. What's going on? Read more...`
